Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey in the U.S.A. in 1951, I attended Lord Sterling Grammar School, Roosevelt Junior High School, New Brunswick High School (graduated in 1969) and Livingston College/Rutgers University (graduated in 1973 where I majored in Journalism), all in my home town. I also attended Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey in the fall of 1975 completing the course Introduction to Radio Broadcasting.

Being involved with newspapers came into my life at a very early stage as I was a paperboy at the age of 12 delivering the daily newspaper Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger to homes in the slum areas of New Brunswick.

When I bought my first typewriter, a portable Smith Corona, I created a small newsletter titled The Home & Store News, which was news from my family as well as from the hot dog/hamburger stand (Helen's Snack Bar) which my parents operated on Smith Street in downtown Perth Amboy, New Jersey from 1960 to 1965.

And my first bylines came at the age of 14 when I was involved with the Rutgers Educational Action Program (REAP) and I was one of the staff writers for the newsletter REAPorter.

I was sports editor of my high school newspaper Brunswick Highlights, associate editor of the first newspaper at Livingston College (Rutgers University), Mudslide, and sports writer for The Daily Targum at Rutgers University.

Also during my high school days I wrote a weekly column (The Jersey Scene) for the Greek-American daily newspaper The National Herald, which I continued writing until I left for Greece in 1978.

I continued my career as a sports writer for The News Tribune daily newspaper in Woodbridge, New Jersey and as sports editor of the weekly newspaper out of Piscataway, New Jersey, the pd review.

The highlight of working for these newspapers was covering the professional soccer team, New York Cosmos. I had the opportunity to travel with the team which included the great Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chinaglia, Carlos Alberto and other outstanding players.

I won an honorable mention award from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association in 1977 for articles I wrote about Pele which appeared in The News Tribune.

On December 28, 1978 I was presented a plaque by the Metuchen-Edison Soccer Club "in appreciation for outstanding soccer coverage in central New Jersey."

I also helped create in 1971 Greek Star Soccer Club out of New Brunswick which played in the second division of the Italian-American Soccer League of New Jersey.

In 1973 I created and hosted The Voice of Greece radio program which was heard on WRSU-FM out of New Brunswick. The program is still on the air today on the Rutgers University radio station. In 1976 I created and hosted together with Thucydides (Duke) Markos, Greek Odyssey radio program which was heard on WJDM-AM out of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Among the news media I worked for included AFP, Reuters, London Daily News, Birmingham Evening Mail, Yorkshire Post, World Soccer, Saudi Gazette, Mutual Broadcasting System, South China Morning Post, Independent Radio News, Global Radio News, Gulf Times and others.

The highlight of my career in broadcasting was to help create Athens International Radio (AIR 104.4 FM) in Greece in time for the Athens Olympic Games of 2004.

I taught journalism and public relations courses in the Athens area for The College of Southeastern Europe, Mediterranean College, Campus Arts & Sciences and Hellenic Colleges Centre from 1990 to 1997. I was also advisor for the school newspaper at Deree College in 1979 located in Aghia Paraskevi.

I have been a member of the Foreign Press Association of Greece since 1979. While in the United States I was a member of The Newspaper Guild (New York branch), New Jersey Sports Writers Association and the Professional Soccer Reporters Association.
